Treatment Philosophy:

Although I adhere to a person-centered solution focused framework; my approach to counselling incorporates elements of other therapeutic perspectives depending on the issues to be resolved and your individual needs. My counselling approach, then, may include, but is not limited to cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, self-compassion, narrative therapy, humanistic, existential, emotional freedom techniques, family of origin work, expressive arts, play and art therapy. I will work from whatever frame I think would be of greatest benefit to you and will collaborate with you to determine the most helpful approach.

Much of my work has been with children and young adults struggling to cope with trauma, abuse, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, substance misuse, loss and grief, life transition, personal growth, relationship issues, self-injury, and unresolved childhood difficulties.

I find that many issues that are presented in therapy go back to early childhood. I do not necessarily believe that the client should live in the past, but I do believe that we often need to go back in order to move ahead.

I do not guarantee any particular outcome of treatment. However, I will use my skills and perform all of my services for you in a professional, competent manner. The course of treatment hinges on such factors as the severity and duration of the problem as well as the motivation and cooperation of the client.
